Assistant Quantity Surveyor

My client is leading building and civil engineering with regional offices in Yorkshire and East Midlands. Job duties will include:


  • Order of cost estimates and option studies.

  • Cost plans.

  • Cost-in-use studies.

  • Tender documentation and managing the tender process. including designing tender marking schemes

  • Evaluation and reporting of tenders.

  • Valuation of completed work and arranging for payments.

  • Preparation and settlement of final accounts.

  • Administration of construction contracts.

  • Preparation of reports to customers.

They are actively looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to work within their growing commercial team. 

Key accountabilities will be:

• Line management of the Quantity Surveyors in their team

• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and other reports which may be required.

• Challenge & manage cost control and provide cost mitigation measures where appropriate.

• Management of projects in accordance with internal budgets the following the processes for increasing sanction where required.

• Undertake contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.

• Negotiation and agreement of change events, extension of time claims, final accounts within the timescales required.

• Measurement of quantities and pricing of work as required.

• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.

• Ensure appropriate contractor relationship is initiated and maintained.

• Assessment of applications for payment in accordance with the contract and preparation of payment certificates.

• Assist with the negotiation and agreement final accounts

• Drafting of complex contract arrangement and appropriate terms of engagement.

• Undertaking monthly accruals and forecasting for the business.

• Compliance with NGN governance, policies and procedures

Senior Landscape Architect - Riyadh

My client is one of the leading Architectural & Engineering Consultancies in Saudi Arabia currently working on several projects and have a number of opportunities within their business.

One of their most pressing requirements is for a Senior Landscape Architect in the Riyadh.

Due to the client’s requirement, we are only looking at Western candidates (Europe, UK, Australia/NZ, US)

Key Responsibilities (Not limited to):

  • Preparation of preliminary sketches and design details for hardscape and softscape.

  • Mentor and monitor the project landscape team during the development of design works and control man-hours assigned to landscape team.

  • Liaising with clients, contractors and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with in-house engineers and out of house sub consultants.

  • Prepare landscape and hardscape specifications, selection of materials, and selection of plants and contribute to the cost estimation process.

  • Prepare landscape design presentation(s) story boards and manage the presentation production and the sample boards.

  • Provide input to site supervision of landscape construction works such as; answer requests for design clarifications, review material submittals, attend site meetings and perform site inspections.

Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within Landscape Architecture

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture

  • Master’s degree or Post-Grad Diploma preferred but not essential

  • Experience of designing landscape projects from concept and prelim to construction documents

  • Middle East experience desirable

  • Knowledge of codes & standards

Site Manager

As a regional contractor based in South Yorkshirehave an exciting opportunity for a #1 site manager to join their team and help them with both a care home and a crematorium devlopment.

You will be fully qualified and have SMSTS qualifications, registered first aider, you will be fully conversant with current building regulations and NHBC standards.

As a site manager you will be #1 on site, overseeing different packages and driving the job on.

Some of your duties will include;

· Managing H&S on site

· Supervise and co-ordinate sub-contractors, material suppliers and utility providers to ensure efficient method of build to the required program and quality

· Ensuring the scheme is on program and budget

· Reporting into the contract’s manager

· Involved with multiple packages

· Involved in weekly progress meetings and reports

Ideally someone who has worked their way up through the trades to being an Assistant and then either feels ready to be a No.1 Site Manger or already acting in such a role.

They are actively looking to appoint a Bid Writer to work within their commercial team and report into the Head of Bids. 

This is very much a role which will have a solid career progression along with it so we would be looking for somebody who is ambitious and wanting to progress. 

Main Responsibilities – Bid Writer

  • Appraise each bid opportunity to identify key requirements; communicate on the requirements effectively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Obtain information required to produce bids from both operational and business services teams

  • Conduct client research in order to write bespoke bids meeting clients’ requirements in relation to service needs as well as their culture of working.

  • Liaise with clients to clarify any queries, clarifications and formulate answers for PQQ and ITT; ensure communication is in line with the company’s culture and approach to customer service

  • Continually update the information library for future bids

  • Effectively manage bid project milestones to ensure a timely submission for bids

  • Produce persuasive text based on the information gathered

  • Periodically meet with key members of the operational teams with the view to recognise operational ways of working and delivery of works

  • Appraise bid submissions to drive continuous improvement by suggesting changes/improvements

  • Ensure compliance with the defined bid process is maintained.


Key skills/Knowledge

  • Proven track record of successful bid writing

  • Working in the construction industry including social housing(desirable)

  • Proven track record of working to agreed timescales

  • Able to manage workload in a fast-paced environment

  • IT Microsoft package, InDesign

  • Stakeholder engagement and management

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
